On Saturday, April 17, 2021, at approximately 3:17 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff's deputies made a traffic stop on State Highway 75 near the U.S. Highway 20 junction which resulted in three felony drug charges and one misdemeanor drug charge.
The driver, and sole human occupant, of a silver Honda Civic, was stopped for traveling at an excessive speed. Upon investigation, John Kenneth Buntjer, age 54 of Hamilton, Montana, was arrested and charged with one felony count of Trafficking in Methamphetamine, I.C. 37-2732B(4), one felony count of Trafficking in Cocaine, I.C. 37-2732D(2), one felony count of Possession of Marijuana (more than 3 ounces), I.C. 37-2732(e), and one misdemeanor count of Possession of Paraphernalia, I.C. 37-2734A.
During a search of the vehicle, officers seized approximately one pound of methamphetamine, several ounces of cocaine, $5500 cash, a digital scale, paraphernalia, several ounces of marijuana, and multiple types of THC edibles. BCSO K9 Eric assisted in the arrest.
Buntjer is in the custody of the Blaine County Detention Center pending arraignment today in Magistrate Court. Buntjer’s dog was transported and released to the Mountain Humane Animal Shelter.
