On Thursday, December 16, 2021, at approximately 4:52 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff deputies responded to a technical rescue with North Blaine County Fire Dept. and Ketchum Ambulance to a single-vehicle accident on Cold Springs Gulch Rd. in Ketchum, Idaho.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Alexander MacDonald II, age 75 of Ketchum, Idaho, was plowing snow on his driveway on a green John Deere 640 tractor with a plow attachment when the tractor came close to the edge of the driveway, slid off the edge, and down a steep embankment. As the tractor fell off the cliff, it rolled several times ejecting MacDonald who did not survive. McDonald was taken to Wood River Chapel Mortuary by Blaine County Coroner Russ Mikel.
