Press Release: 2021 In Review

2021 brought a prolongation of challenges to all of our lives. Yet despite the challenges, we would like to take a moment to let our citizens know how the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office continued to serve our community last year.

Our patrol and detention teams continued to perform their duties 24/7. Our entire staff has admirably continued to serve, protect, and fulfill our legal mandates. We remain committed to providing the highest level of professional law enforcement to our citizens and visitors. Here are a few ways we served and protected Blaine County, Idaho in 2021. 

Our Patrol Teams

  • Responded to 17,413 Calls for Service (13% increase from 2020)
  • Initiated 5265 Traffic Stops (5% increase from 2020)
  • Responded to 338 Traffic Accidents (29% increase from 2020)
  • Assisted 293 Motor Vehicle Drivers
  • Made 339 Arrests including 117 DUIs
  • Responded to 273 Animal Control /Wildlife Calls for Service
  • Responded to 108 Domestic Disturbances
  • Responded to 80 Assault/Battery Calls
  • Responded t0 30 Shots Fired Calls
  • Responded to 195 Intoxicated Driver/Person Calls for Service
  • Responded to 112 Theft/Fraud/Embezzlement Calls
  • Responded to 317 Traffic Complaints
  • Responded to 154 Suspicious Person Calls for Service
  • Performed 236 Emphasis Patrols
  • Performed 284 Welfare Checks
  • Issued 1,433 Citations
  • Completed 2450 hours of training
  • Conducted Narcotics Enforcement Team Operations
  • Conducted Search and Rescue Operations
  • Conducted special patrols:       Boat Patrol

Our K9 Team

  • Performed 218 deployments with 69 drug seizures, and was responsible for 37 arrests
  • Seized more than 472g of methamphetamine, 57g. of cocaine, more than 335g. of marijuana along with multiple seizures of THC oil and edibles, mushrooms, prescription pills, and $5,500 in cash.
  • Completed over 420 hours of continued required narcotics training this year; participating in 50 training events, both in-house and with Twin Falls PD K9 Unit.
  • Conducted successful deployments at Wood River High School per their administration’s request.
  • Passed annual Idaho POST re-certifications

Our Detention Center Team

  • Booked 570 Arrests into the Blaine County Detention Center
  • Housed an Average Daily Population of 18 inmates for a total of 6,468 prisoner days
  • Generated $111,738 in Detention Center Revenue to offset operating costs
  • Completed 3326 Hours of Training

Community Connectivity

  • Posted 409 public safety, customer service, and transparency messages reaching over 3 million online views
  • Increased our Social Media followers to 19,000  followers

Our Drivers Services Team

  • Performed 29,645 Transactions and processed $186,051 in fees

Our Civil Team

  • Served 677 Civil Papers including subpoenas, summons, small claim suits, etc.
  • Processed $300,756 in Civil Service fees, bank and wage garnishments, real property, and personal property levies

BCSO is dedicated to providing excellent law enforcement to our community. We look forward to continuing to serve and protect our Blaine County citizens and visitors in 2022.
