On Sunday, June 12, 2022, at approximately 9:30 p.m., a Blaine County Sheriff’s deputy patrolling Main Street near Gannett Road in Bellevue, Idaho observed a 2007 Ford F250 truck making multiple traffic violations.
The deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the driver failed to yield, driving into the oncoming lane of travel, above posted speed limits, and running several stop signs. The vehicle ultimately hit a tree and crashed on top of a hill on Second Street, at which point the driver attempted to flee on foot. The BCSO deputy exited his patrol vehicle and pursued the driver through a backyard and over a fence where the driver was captured.
Upon investigation, Jake Dylan Charpentier, age 18 of Bellevue, Idaho was arrested and charged with felony Eluding a Police Officer, I.C. 49-1404, misdemeanor Driving Under the Influence, I.C. 18-8004(1)(D), misdemeanor Resisting and Obstructing an Officer, I.C. 18-705, and cited with an Infraction Minor in Possession of Alcohol, 23-604.
Charpentier was arraigned in Magistrate Court on June 13, 2022, where a combined bond of $2,000 was ordered. Charpentier was released after posting a bond and scheduled for a preliminary hearing on June 21, 2022.
