On Tuesday, November 8, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies responded by request to an accident involving a Sun Valley snowplow that occurred on the bike path adjacent to Village Way in Sun Valley, Idaho.
Upon investigation, it was determined that Damon Gottlieb Vergel, age 42 of Hailey, Idaho was driving the plow heading southbound on the bike path when the plow struck a metal cap and pipe on the path. The cap and pipe were not visible because they were covered in snow. Vergel was transported to St. Luke’s Wood River Medical Center with non-life-threatening injuries.
The Sun Valley Police Department requested the assistance of the Blaine County Sheriff’s Office due to a potential conflict of interest.
