On Friday, December 23, 2022, at approximately 12:37 p.m., Blaine County Sheriff’s deputies and Officers of the Hailey Police Dept. responded to a report of an intoxicated driver stuck in a snow embankment on Buttercup Dr., near West Meadows Dr.
Upon arrival, deputies observed a white 2000 Ford F250 truck blocking the southbound lane and an indentation in the snowbank where the truck had gone off the road.
The driver was identified as Lisa Maurine Chaney, age 62 of Hailey, ID. Upon investigation, Chaney was arrested and charged with felony Excessive Driving Under the Influence, I.C. 18-8004(1)(A)(F), misdemeanor Driving without Privileges, I.C. 18-8001, and misdemeanor Possession of an Open Container of Alcohol, I.C. 23-505(2). Chaney has two prior DUI convictions from July 2015 and January 2022, making her third arrest within ten years a felony. An Excessive DUI in Idaho is classified as a Blood Alcohol Level (BAC) level of 0.20 or higher alcohol concentration.
Chaney was arraigned on Tuesday, December 27, 2022, and later released on a court-ordered combined bond of $10,000. Chaney is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on February 7, 2023.
